MURDER ON THE PLAINS.--The Independence Expositor has received a letter from Council Grove, dated Nov. 19, which says:--

We have information of the murder of an American being committed somewhere in the vicinity of Cottonwood Fork--forty-five miles from here--and his money taken and cached. Captain Sublette and Lieutenant Beall intend to investigate the matter, and arrest the murderer, who is supposed to be at Cottonwood Fork now.

Lieut. Beall, it will be recollected, is bearer of despatches to California. He was at Council Grove on the 19th ult.
