Full Text

Dec. 27. Dr. Franklin has been some time sounding his good friends on the possibility of his coming over, and remaining here as other Americans do, to observe events, catch at occasions, amuse our Ministry, gamble in our funds, and decoy our artists. This is best to be done without a public character, which would render America responsible. The secret friends of this cunning man about the Alley have pronounced it safe and expedient that he should come, and he is packing up his all for England; but to appear as a philosopher; the honest jobbers to visit only in the dark.
