Can anybody tell whether the Dr. John C. Walker who is assistant superintendent of the Insane Asylum is the same John C. Walker who, according to Heffren's statement, received one of those major-general's commissions from Jeff Davis to authorize him to murder Governor Morton and turn the rebel prisoners loose? I don't see "what you're going to do about it" if he is, still it strikes a common soldier as significant that two of these major-generals have their heads together to so change the law that a Union soldier may not possibly be put in charge of the insane or Indiana. questions whether dr. john c. walker, assistant superintendent of the insane asylum, is the same john c. walker commissioned by jeff davis to murder governor morton and free rebel prisoners, and notes the suspicious involvement of such figures in changing laws to prevent union soldiers from holding positions in the asylum or indiana.
