Changes in Mail Service --

Beginning the first of the month, the local postoffice takes mail up to 5:40 p. m. for train number sixteen, which carries a closed pouch to Portland, where it is distributed there and to points beyond. This arrangement is proving a great convenience to patrons who miss getting their mail to the postoffice in time to catch the 3:45 shipment. Simultaneous with this innovation, the Klamath stages quit carrying mail over the Cascades, because of the likelihood of the service being at any time interrupted by bad roads. There has already been some snow in the mountains, although not enough to interfere seriously with auto traffic.
