OSLO, Norway, Aug. 9. Norway's department of justice today issued a clean bill of health to Leon Trotsky the one-time revolutionary leader of Russia, in reply to reports that he had abused his residence privilege by fomenting agitation in other countries.
OSLO, Norway, Aug. 7. Alleged international intrigue by Leon Trotsky, exiled Russian communist, brought an investigation by Norwegian police today.
Authorities were reported to have accused the leftist of engaging in political activities, which he promised to abandon when Norway offered him asylum after his deportation from France.
Their inquiries, it was said, were based on two alleged activities:
Reception of a number of foreign visitors in recent weeks.
Frequent telephone conversations with Paris during the "folded arms" strikes, when more than 1,000,000 French workers refused to carry on their regular jobs.
Trotsky, whose permit to live in Norway was renewed June 19 for a period of two months, was declared to be "extremely nervous" because of recent Norwegian nazi-activity criticizing him.
(Editor's Note: This Associated Press Dispatch referring to Trotsky as being extremely nervous is a doubtful "reaction" of the great revolutionist, who has faced everything in the course of his leadership of the workers of the world).
