Event Details
An important bill has passed to a third reading in the House of Representatives for extirpating that traitorous intercourse with the enemy, of which we hear so much on the Northern frontier. Whenever every effort of the minority to defeat the bill by fair voting had failed, they resorted to stratagem to accomplish their end, and generally left the House with a view to compel it to adjourn. But the majority, firm to their purpose, made a call of the House, and, obtaining a quorum, ordered the bill to be engrossed for a third reading.
