COOPERATIVE CREAMERY AT DENHAM
Denham is the northwest township in Pine county on the Soo railroad. I was invited to attend a meeting and assist in organizing a creamery there last Saturday. There are about 1,000 cows in that community and the farmers have talked creamery for nearly two years, and some of them declared at the meeting Saturday that if they could not succeed in organizing they would seek other locations. They are selling their butterfat at present for 35c. After some deliberation the meeting decided to organize, adopted constitution and by-laws and will incorporate for $25,000. They decided to sign an individual agreement to deliver all their butterfat to this creamery for five years and sign a note for $100 as a guarantee that they will live up to their agreement.
Swan Pederson was elected president; David Goranson, vice president; A. W. Wenberg, secretary; Ed Anderson, treasurer; directors—Nels Liljedahl, Olaf Alberg and Julius Olsop.
The meeting lasted about five hours.
