CHICAGO—A German police dog, two bandits and a hotel proprietor staged a comedy here Monday, and the dog thereby became a hero.
Joseph Pick, proprietor of Ze Grand hotel, stood behind the clerk's desk. Two men entered.
"We're from police headquarters and have come to search the place," said the men, showing official looking badges.
"Where's your search warrant?" Pick asked.
For answer, the "detectives" leveled revolvers at Pick.
"Here are mine," the latter called.
The police dog leaped upon the desk from behind and lunged straight at one of the bandits. The other bandit fired, inflicting a flesh wound upon the dog.
Both gunmen fled. They jumped into a car a half block away. When last seen the dog was still chasing the car.
