A 47-year-old taxi operator was held up by two passengers early Monday in an apparent three-man, pre-planned operation, but the scheme paid them only $38, police reported.
The driver, Sam Lenon, of 324 Northside Dr. S. W., Apt. 196, was operating a Tiger Flower cab when he was robbed near a given address across town where a get away car waited complete with driver.
Police quoted Lenon as saying he picked up two men about 6:50 a. m., at McDaniel and Arthur Sts. He was instructed to go to a specific address and directed how to reach it.
On Simpson Road, near Hightower, one of the men halted him and pointed a pistol. A 1940 Ford was standing nearby while they went through his pockets and got all his money. Then they joined the third man in the Ford and sped away, throwing the victim's auto keys away before they left.
