Glasses May Help To See July 4 Fireworks Display

There is always something new and novel happening in Nome.

Fireworks have been a big problem for Nome as the midnight sun, which shines on the Fourth of July, competes with the beauty of the fireworks display.

Commissioner Ted Duffield, who was in charge of putting on the last display, two years ago, has been working on the problem and thinks he has found a solution. He has written the company which supplies the fireworks to see about getting us some smoked glasses to wear, like the PAA furnish passengers on their planes, to eliminate the sunshine and bring out the bright coloring and sparkle of the traditional part of the 4th of July celebration.
