The Day Book.--The progress of the "People's Organ" is, so far, very flattering; as its circulation has already reached a larger number than was ever known in this section of Virginia before, and the demand is still on the increase. We are daily receiving gratifying evidences of the favor in which the Day Book is held by the "masses." The rich read it, because it is cheap and they do not miss the small amount it costs, whilst the poor take it because it is the only paper they can afford to take. All classes and conditions of the community seek its columns. because they like the manner in which the paper is conducted.
We throw out the above hint to those who have property, goods, or commodities of any kind to dispose of houses to rent, or slaves to hire, or who have lost anything and wish to find it, or, in brief, those who wish to talk to the "masses" in regard to whatever business they may be pursuing or whatever wants they have. The "penny paper"--the people's organ--the paper that the masses patronize--is the paper for them. As an evidence of this fact. we refer with pride to the advertising columns of the Day Book, which are rapidly filling up by those who duly appreciate its importance, as a penny paper of large circulation, to the business interests of our city.
