SAD ACCIDENT.—Mr. Robert Vance, of Barnet, was caught in a threshing machine and his left arm drawn in nearly to the elbow and so mangled as to render amputation above the elbow joint necessary. Previous to the accident the horse power had been stopped and the belt thrown off, but the cylinder was in motion. He has a large family of eight small children. People can not be too careful around a threshing machine. Query: Can not there be an improvement in machines of this kind to prevent such accidents?
