On Alleghany county depends the question whether the executive branch of the government of Maryland shall or shall not for another year remain under the wile of faction. From that county we have received the following return comprising Old Town, Cumberland and Hoitzman's District. Three other districts remain to be heard from, which it is expected will give Republican majorities. We therefore are sanguine in our hopes that Maryland is redeemed from further disgrace.
Since writing the above, we learn there are three Republicans and one Federalist chosen from Alleghany. If so, correct principles have triumphed.
