ANNEXATION -- TROOPS FOR TEXAS

We gather from our exchanges the following items, which show that the government is preparing itself for any emergency which may arise between this country and Mexico.

Captain Duncan, at Fort Hamilton, a few miles below New York, has received orders to be in readiness at a moment's warning, with his company of Flying Artillery, to march to Texas.

Two companies of U. S. troops at Fort Monroe are ordered to Texas immediately. Gen'l Worth, the commanding officer at St. Augustine (Fla.) has received orders, to send three companies of United States Troops from that Post to New Orleans. Maj. Ringgold's corps of U. S. Flying Artillery, at Fort McHenry, have received orders to embark for Matagorda.

250 boxes of muskets have been sent from the Washington Navy Yard to New Orleans, where they are to be dispatched to Texas.

350,000 ball cartridges, with a number of gun-carriages and other military stores have been directed to be prepared immediately and sent off with all immediate possible dispatch.
