FRANKFORT, (Kentucky) Jan. 13.

Tuesday last was appointed for holding the first General Election within the State of Ohio. Doctor Edward Tiffin, of Chillicothe, we understand was a candidate for the office of Governor. He is undoubtedly elected.—The President, it is said, would not nominate a successor to Governor St. Clair, lest it might have a tendency to bias the minds of the citizens in favor of the person elected to administer the government. This delicate forbearance is an additional proof of the purity of his republican principles.
