NEW-YORK, Feb. 21.

Friday Night last came to Town from Rhode-Island, the Cooper belonging to the Privateer Sloop Bonetta; Captain Spelling, of this Port, who informs us, That about 10 Days before Christmas they fell in with a French Privateer commanded by one Le Etach, of 14 Guns and 120 Men, with whom they engaged for several Glasses, in which Time Capt. Spelling and his first Lieut. was killed, and the Vessel greatly damaged; and by the Bonetta's Topping Lift being shot away, the Boom fell into the Sea, when the Frenchmen seized the Opportunity, boarded and took her, with the Loss of two more of Capt. Spelling's men, who all behaved as becomes Englishmen, having fired their Cannon until their Deck gave Way.
