School Says Rosenberg Boys Not Singled Out.
Toms River, N. J., Oct. 15 (AP) — School authorities have denied the discrimination against the two Rosenberg boys at Toms River Elementary school. Their legal guardian, Emanuel H. Bloch of New York, who was defense attorney for Julius and Ethel Rosenberg when they were on trial.
Toms River residents Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Bach here. Early this week Bloch accused school officials of singling out the Rosenberg boys "because they are the children of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg." The Bachs were informed last week of the school regulation and were asked to decide whether to adopt the children.
School Principal DeWitt Ricketts said Wednesday the local board of education decided four years ago that only legal residents should be allowed to attend Toms River schools.
Since then, he said, two children have been refused admittance.
The Rosenberg boys, Michael, 10 and Robert, 6, are staying with Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Bach.
Ricketts said schools in Toms River are overcrowded, and that another is under construction.
