Full Text

Hard Up.—The Shasta Republican, an excellent weekly paper, and the Marysville Inquirer, a weekly daily paper, appear to be hard up for a political party. They are not disposed to join the Republicans, although we think it is their duty to do so, as that is the only organized opposition to the Democracy. They appear to be advertising for some one to extend a 'coat-tail' for them to hang to. Japhat in search of a father never exhibited more industry than that now actuating these interesting "Babes in the woods." They have followed a "jack o'-the-lantern" until they have become entangled in the grass of a Ki-Yi swamp. Their complaint appears to be the chronic nightmare.
