THE FIREMEN.

Harry Hall Elected Assistant Engineer.

At a meeting of the members of the fire department last Saturday evening, at the court house, Harry Hall, of Hope Hose Co. No. 3, was elected assistant-chief engineer in place of the late John Staubach. Hall and Fred Channon are said to have been the only candidates, and the former having a majority of the votes cast on the informal ballot was then elected by acclamation.

The selection is not a bad one, as the new assistant is a young man, a good fireman, and generally liked by the members of the department. He is yard master, on the Rockford road in this city, and boards at the Bellows House.
