Merchants Sponsor Sales Coming Week For $1,409,000 Goal
Total purchases of Vance county's quota of the Third War Loan has passed the $800,000 figure. J. C. Gardner, war finance chairman in the county, announced today. He did not have the precise figures in the forenoon. The county is driving to wind up its $1,409,000 goal.
Merchants are sponsoring the sales effort this week. They have been appealed to by the bond committee to set up their quotas with a view to having each clerk or employee become responsible for a minimum of $200 worth in bonds.
One feature of the week's campaign is to be a visit by the war bond caravan from Camp Butner, which is to come here Saturday and exhibit and demonstrate types of guns and other war-winning equipment. The caravan is due to reach the county at 10 a. m. and will remain until 2 p. m. It will be accompanied by a movie.
Chairman Gardner requests an appeal today to all citizens as possible the bond campaign. He urges the utmost in their capacity. Those who have not bought their maximum and those who have are asked to make additional purchases if possible.
