Notorious Criminal With Bunch of Coin and Beautiful Chateau Creates Consternation in Staid French Town.
Paris, Sept. 7-Great excitement has been caused in the town of Gravedona in Lombardy by the news that a notorious criminal who has served no less than forty-six terms of imprisonment for robbery has inherited a great fortune and that he is going to entertain very lavishly.
This man, Gerolamo Pasquale, had a wealthy aunt. She threatened to leave him out of her will, but finally died without a will. Pasquale therefore, on leaving the prison the last time, said that as the old lady's nearest relative, he was the heir to all her fortune, and a beautiful villa at Gravedona, where he now lives in great luxury.
He started his new life by sending a check for fifteen hundred dollars to his late fellow prisoners. Pasquale is however, not going to left in undisturbed possession of his wealth, for a number of the other relatives of his aunt have combined to prosecute him criminally on the charge that he tore up the testatrix' will.
