ARRIVAL OF THE JAMESSTOWN AT CORK.

The Cork Examiner of the 16th, gives a full and very interesting account of the banquet of the preceding day, given by the gentry of Cove and its vicinity, at the Naval and Military Hotel, at which Dr. Maurice Power presided. On introducing a toast in compliment to Captain Forbes, the chairman pronounced a hearty eulogy on the American character. In alluding to the feelings excited by the arrival of the Steam-ship Jamestown on the preceding Tuesday, the chairman remarked:

You, gentlemen, must have witnessed the enthusiasm which prevailed on the occasion. When the good ship moved slowly and majestically across the broad expanse of our glittering waters—when the tear-drop of joy trembled in the eye of many—for joy, like pity, melts the heart to tears (hear). Yes, you must have seen the tear glistening in the eyes of many a thousand, whose parched tongues hailed with joy, and exclaimed with the heart-felt ejaculation—'May God bless America.' And how shall I speak of the occurrences of the night—the night when bonfires blazed from every hill; when a thousand lamps made the face of night look beautiful and brilliant, whilst fairy like music stole across the whispering waters which murmured and rippled joyfully in the beam of light, as if conscious of the precious burthen they bore on the brightened bosom (cheers).—

Captain Forbes, you indeed have accomplished a great and glorious mission; you have added new glory to the land of your birth—the land of Washington and Franklin (loud cheers). Sir, you have erected a monument to your virtues more lasting than brass, for already your name is engraven on the grateful hearts of eight millions of enthusiastic and truly grateful people, [loud cheers]. Ages of Irishmen yet unborn shall yet pronounce with reverence and respect your honored name. Semper honos, nomenque tuum laudesque manebunt, (loud cheers)

At the public meeting at the Court House in Cork, on the 16th, an address to Captain Forbes was agreed to, and other measures were adopted expressive of the gratitude of the Irish people.
