Liberals Win Election
In British Columbia
Vancouver, B. C. June 2.—(Canadian
Press)—Premier Thomas D. Pattullo and the liberal party returned
to power Wednesday for another five
years with the assurance of at least
25 of the 46 seats in the British
Columbia legislature.
Voters at the election Tuesday
swept the 64-year-old premier and
three of his ministers into office
along with 21 other members of the
party, returns showed. Other liberal
party candidates were leading in six
ridings.
The liberal party, campaigning on a
platform of past record and better
terms for British Columbia under
Confederation, turned back the challenge of a reorganized conservative
party.
Social Credit appeared to have been
routed in all the 18 seats they contested. Labor retained its single legislative representative.
