CHARLESTON, March 26.

Capt. Akins, from Cape Francois, furnishes the following particulars:

On the 10th inst. the brigands made an attack on the national troops at one of their out posts in the plains, but were defeated with considerable loss.

On the 11th, the day that capt. Akins sailed, there was to be a general attack made by the national troops on the brigands in the plains, but for it was decided capt. Akins cannot tell, as he sailed early in the morning.

A line of battle ship bound to the leeward, supposed for Port-de-Paix or Tortugas, and a corvette, supposed to be bound for France with dispatches, sailed in co. with capt. Akins.

The brig Mary, capt. Barber, from New York bound to Jamaica, was wrecked on the Hogsty on the 15th February; vessel and cargo lost; the crew took to their boats; the yawl with two men in her was taken up by the sch'r Good Intent, capt. Foster, and carried into Cape Francois on the 27th instant. It is supposed that the remainder of the crew in the long boat, have arrived either at Henaga, Hispaniola or Tortugas, as the yawl was picked up in sight of the latter place.
