decidedly, so far as we were concerned,—albeit he little knows it.
The Democratic party particular fits, causing many of the brotherhood to quote profane history most profusely, demonstrating their knowledge of its lingo, to the entire satisfaction of their auditors, if nothing more,—perhaps, Mr. T. feels it incumbent on himself to perform the little job? We hope, however, that his wrath toward our humble self has cooled down somewhat, and that he will not utterly annihilate us, or knock us into nonentity, without more provocation than we have yet given him, merely to exhibit his intellectual prowess. But, seriously, we congratulate the Democracy of Marshall upon Mr. Thompson's ascension to the tripod of their county organ. He is a young gentleman of respectable talent, we are informed, and good character, possessing the requisite industry and perseverance to conquer success even as the publisher of a Democratic county paper, if such a thing be possible in this enlightened age. To fall by the steel of such a man, if fall we must, will be no dishonor. We welcome Mr. T. back to his old home, and trust that pecuniary success will at least reward his labors, exerted though they will be in a bad cause.
