NEW YORK, February 4.
About ten Days ago, the following Affair happened in this City, viz.
A Lady of Pleasure inveigled a Man into her Bed-chamber, whilst her Husband had hid himself in a Closet near by; when they had the Engagement more secure, the Husband rushed out of the Closet with a Knife drawn in his Hand, swearing he'd kill him, unless he made him Satisfaction for the Wrong done to his Honour: The Man not willing to lose his Life yet, and having no Money about him, consented to give his Note of Hand for Fifty Pounds, to be paid the next Day;---but next Day he applied to proper Authority; and when the Man came for the Money, he had him seized, and carried before an Alderman; where, after Examination, he confessed the Knavery; whereupon the Woman was sent for, and finding what her Husband had done, was obliged to confess also: The Woman being with Child, was for that Reason let go; but the Man was committed to Jail, in order to receive the Reward of his Ingenuity.
