ISTANBUL,
(JTA) - The
Israel flag was this week raised over the newly-established consulate here, while thousands of Jews gathered about the building and cheered.

It
was
announced
that the
Turkish Government has approved the
appointment
of
Victor
Eliyashar
as
Israel vice-consul
here. Mr. Eliyashar, who originally came here as a representative of the Israel Immigration Department, is the first Israel diplomatic representative to achieve recognition from Turkey.
