KUALA LUMPUR, Malaya (AP) - Should bare-breasted aborigine women be used as a tourist attraction for Malaya?
"No, it is improper," said Karam Singh, socialist-front member of the Malayan Parliament.
Singh urged the government to ensure that the aborigine women "dressed properly and did not expose themselves." He referred to advertisements showing the brown-skinned women in their normal state of semi-nudity.
"Surely, this is not the proper way for the government to carry out publicity," he said.
Interior Minister Ismail Bin Abdul Rahman demurred against "totalitarian methods" and putting the women "in detention camps" because of their customary mode of dress.
"We try to advise and persuade them but we cannot force them," he said. "In our country they are free to live according to their customs."
