Full Text

A clergyman had lately the following uncommon and impartial prayers in one of the churches of this city. On the one side, 'Do thou, O Lord, put a stop to that spirit of licentiousness, tumult, and disorder, that contempt of lawful authority, and that disrespect to superior station, which has for some time so universally prevailed in our neighbouring country.' On the other, 'Grant, O Lord, that all they that are about our King's throne may be renowned from their wickedness. Suffer not those to whom the administration of the affairs of the realms, in thy providence, has been committed, to advise to execute any measure, either with respect to Britain or her colonies, that may be inconsistent with their true interests or Regal-constitutions.'
