Full Text

Last Wednesday afternoon Irvin Creamer, an expert rifleman of Embden, made a great shot when he brought down a large bull moose. The moose swam across the mill stream at the foot of Embden lake and was first seen by Creamer when it was coming up across the pasture.

Creamer took his rifle and started in pursuit, firing the first time at a distance of 50 rods, the ball striking the animal in the leg. The next shot took effect in the side and went through the body, while all the time the moose was coming towards Creamer.

After four shots were fired-there was but one shell left-and although every ball had lodged in the animal, he kept showing fight and advancing toward Creamer. When within about five rods a bullet was sent into its head which was the last and fatal. And then it made an attempt to come to its feet again before giving up the battle. It dressed 700 pounds and Creamer sold a part of it for $30 and concluded it was a good afternoon's work.
