A "Ladies' Papal Address Committee" for Dublin has, we observe, been formed, and has held its first public meeting, which took place on Thursday week in the Cathedral, Marlborough street. It was numerously attended.
The Very Rev. Father Curtis, S. J., detailed some of the atrocities recently perpetrated in the Eternal City in the name of the Italian Government, pointed out the danger of Catholicity in the dethronement of the Pontiff, and urged the ladies present to oppose to the violence to which the Holy Father was subjected the strongest moral force they could exert.
Very Rev. Father Burke, O. P., followed, and pointed out that the Holy Father and the Church had been the most constant and firm advocates and protectors of women and their legitimate rights. To them lay to succor the Pope in his misfortunes. Holy Church has no more devoted daughters than the women of Ireland.
We are glad to learn that steps are being taken in almost every town in the country to give due expression to their feelings on the Roman question.
