Hon. S. H. Boyd, M. C. elect from the Springfield District in Missouri, was in our city yesterday. Mr. Boyd is a native of this county, and a thorough-going anti-slavery man, having defeated Hon. John S. Phelps 3000 votes, on the issues of Emancipation and Confiscation. He says that the anti-slavery party in Missouri is increasing in strength daily, and that slavery will soon be annihilated in that State. He feels a strong desire that Tennessee should recognize the fact that slavery is destroyed in her borders, just as his adopted State has done.
