Full Text

State Superintendent Joyner has sent out to the different schools of the State for use on the occasion of North Carolina Day on Friday December 23rd, a terse but carefully prepared epitome of the life of Calvin Wiley, "the father of the public schools." The exercises prepared for the day have already been sent to the different schools. A feature of the day will be a voluntary collection from school children which will be devoted to a fund to be used for the erection of a Calvin Wiley monument. We would be glad if every child attending school in Orange county would make a contribution to the Wiley monument.
