Full Text
On the Morgan Road, in Louisiana, last week as the excursion train of negroes was returning to New Iberia, one of the party stood on the steps kicking furiously at the section hands as they stood in position for work, as soon as the car, going at the rate of 20 miles an hour, should have passed, and he finally succeeded in planting his thirteen inch foot just below the ear of another negro standing on the platform, which broke his neck as effectually as though struck by the swinging pendulum of an old Roman battering ram.
We might mention the late excursion to Canton by white people, as another instance of the immoral tendency of excursions. If these railroad jaunts cannot be conducted with decency and humanity, the great corporation had better hang out a flag with, 'no more excursions on this road.'

Railroad excursions, originally for enjoyment, now attract rough elements leading to incidents like a negro kicking another off a moving train on the Morgan Road, breaking his neck, and a recent immoral excursion to Canton by white people; suggests ending such jaunts if not conducted decently.
