Full Text

We have mentioned in our Paper, that accurate Observations of the late Transit of Venus over the Sun's Disk were made at Cambridge, and at several other Places on the Continent. It is probable the same would have been attempted at New-Haven, had the Gentlemen of the Academy there, who we hear have one of the best of reflecting Telescopes, been seasonably apprised of it's approach. But as this was not the Case, they must despair of ever seeing so agreeable a Phænomenon, or of contributing to the Solution of one of the most important Problems in the Science of Astronomy ; as there will not be an Opportunity of observing another Transit of this Planet, for the space of more than a compleat Century.
