"We have had the largest appearance of Gentlemen of probity and consideration on the Grand Jury this day, that has been known for several years. The general and universal spirit which reigns all over this country, appeared most conspicuously here. The eagerness of the whole company to express their zeal and affection to those they thought true friends of their country,--as well as their detestation of those they think the enemies of it, is not to be expressed. The whole town must have heard the acclamations which voluntarily burst forth on the toasts of the late Speaker, Father of the Country, the Duke of Devonshire, Lord Temple, Mr. Pitt, Lord Chief Justice Pratt, that Friend to the Liberties of the Subject, and prosperity to the County of Surrey and City of London. God grant that the prayers and wishes of England may soon take place, and harmony and unanimity prevail instead of the discord and alarm which is now daily increasing."
