Parish of Greenland. December 27.
Last Lord's Day Morning a Fire broke out in the Chamber of the Parsonage House in this Parish, occasioned by the Heat of the Hearth, which was laid but the Thickness of a Tile over the Girt. It found Vent into a Closet a little before Day break, which was all in Flames, and burnt thro' the Wainscot into the Chamber, and was penetrating into the Garret, before it was discovered -- But the House was happily saved, tho' neither Ax nor Water could be got so speedily as was necessary, by beating out and keeping down the Flame with a Woollen Coverlid; till there was sufficient Help to take up the Hearth, and extinguish the Fire.
