A DIRTY OUTRAGE. -- Monday week a gang of five or six well known hoodlums rode up to the Indian camp west of town, and after knocking down or severely injuring Indian George with a stone for trying to rescue his squaw from their brutish clutches, they outraged her before his eyes. A runner came to town after the Sheriff, who, with Under Sheriff Swearengen, immediately started to the rescue. but by the time they got close enough to recognize them by their voices, the gang took the alarm and, mounting their horses, fled like a pack of coyotes. They were ordered to stop and had a pistol shot fired after them, but this only accelerated their speed. It is a source of general regret that the Indians do not put a ball through the perpetrators of such high-handed outrages as this, which, it properly prosecuted under the law, as we are told it will be, would surely send every one of them to the Penitentiary.-Inyo (Cal.)
