Capt. Folger, who arrived here yesterday, in the schooner Antelope, in 35 days from Nantz, advises that the combined fleets of France & Spain commanded by the Count de Guichen & Don Louis de Cordova, consisting of 48 sail of the line, were cruising, when he sailed between Ushant and Cape Clear, and it was reported, had taken a number of rich British merchantmen from the West-Indies—That the British fleet of 28 sail of the line, under the command of Admiral Darby, lay at Torbay—That an embarkation of 4000 troops was taking place at Rochfort, destined for the protection of the Dutch Settlement at the Cape of Good Hope, & that 40,000 Spaniards were vigorously besieging Gibraltar, and had destroyed almost every house in the garrison.
