Full Text

ZURICH, March 13.

Within the last fortnight, troops have almost constantly passed through this city. The French have left their winter quarters, and approached the Rhine.

Yesterday between 30 and 40 pontoons were conveyed through the city to Flaach, on the Rhine, near the mouth of the Thur and the Toss.

General Lecourbe, who is still here, has declared to the Helvetic functionaries, that he cannot grant any more passports for crossing the Rhine, to persons intending to go to Germany.

The last passports signed by him, were for merchants going to Frankfort fair.

Last week the transporting of goods across the Lake of Constance, from Lindau, was suddenly stopped, and it was apprehended that hostilities would commence immediately; it appeared, however, afterwards, to have merely proceeded from a misunderstanding on the part of France, and, after some remonstrances, the communication was again permitted.
