"By a Gentleman who arrived Yesterday from Dominica we are assured, as a matter of Fact, that the Day before he left that Island: some Gentlemen who arrived from Martinico brought Advice, that a French Frigate arrived at St. Pierre's from France, with Dispatches for his Excellency Count d'Ennery, which were of such Importance, as made it necessary for him to communicate the Contents of them to the Governor of Fort Royal, tho' then 1 o'Clock at Night. This causing some speculation among the Inhabitants, they solicited his Excellency to inform them if they had anything to apprehend from the English. They were answered, they had not: but that Spain had already DECLARED WAR against England though the English had not yet declared. The Frigate sailed in a few hours for Hispaniola."
