Frost Damages Valencia Crop

By United Press Leased Wire

SANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 19.-

Although approximately 100,000 smudge pots were pressed into service, low temperatures in Orange county throughout the night resulted in damage to the young Valencia orange crop, county Horticultural Commissioner A. A. Brock said today.

The temperature was down to 24 degrees in Garden Grove, Tustin and West Orange. The Valencia damage will be lessened if the temperature warms moderately during the next ten days, Brock said.

The Navals, in the northern part of Orange county, are almost ripe and were uninjured, it was reported.
