There was an unusually large grist in police court this morning. Some were up for keeping open saloon on Sunday, others for selling beer, while there were quite a few in the dock that had been drinking the stuff.

In the absence of Judge Frost, who is confined to his home quite ill, Associate Justice William F. Nason presided. The first victim to face His Honor was Mrs. James O'Neil, who appeared for her husband and pleaded guilty to the charge of keeping beer for sale; also for keeping open on Sunday. On the first complaint she was ordered to pay a fine of $10 and costs, total $17.76, and on the second she was fined $10 and costs, total $17.90.

Ernest Bernier was arraigned charged with keeping open saloon on Main street on Sunday. He pleaded guilty and paid a fine of $10 and costs, total $17.90.

James Devereaux was charged with keeping open saloon on Sunday. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine of $10 and costs, total $17.90, and to stand committed to the county jail until paid.

Frank Grimes pleaded guilty to being drunk on Central avenue Saturday night and said that he would take the pledge if given a chance and keep it. The court ordered him to pay a fine of $2 and costs, total $7.76.

James Quinn was charged with being drunk on Central avenue yesterday. He pleaded guilty and said that it was the first time that he had ever been arrested for being drunk. He was ordered to pay a fine of $5 and costs, total $10.76, and to stand committed to the house of correction until paid.

John Quinn was charged with being drunk on the land of Dominick Durgin on Main street yesterday. He pleaded guilty and asked the leniency of the court, saying that he would take the pledge and keep it. Elmer Pray was charged with being drunk on Washington street last night. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine of $5 and costs, total $10.76, and to stand committed to the house of correction at the county farm until paid.

Francis McArdle was charged with being drunk Saturday. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine of $2 and costs, total $7.76. The respondent said he had not been arrested before for six years, and the case was placed on file during good behavior.

Patrick Dobbins pleaded guilty to the charge of being drunk on Central avenue. The court ordered him confined at the house of correction at the county farm for a term of 60 days.

Another young man pleaded guilty to being drunk Saturday. The court ordered him to pay a fine of $2 and costs, total $7.76, sentence being suspended during good behavior.

An agent of Mrs. Lawrence McGinn appeared and entered a plea of guilty to the charge of keeping open saloon on Sunday and paid a fine of $10 and costs, total $17.90.
