Full Text

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1893.

There have been some very suspicious developments regarding the alleged attempt to wreck a train on the Omaha road at Sioux Falls Junction, three miles from Worthington, Sunday night. Iversop, who claimed to have discovered men at work on the track and to have been shot and robbed, is said to have told some contradictory stories. His wound could scarcely have bled a spoonful, according to the physician's statement, yet he claimed to have bled profusely and to have fainted away. A large quantity of blood was found along the track, but the detectives have found some chickens' feathers near by. The loosened rails would not have wrecked a passenger train. There are suspicions that the man was anxious enough to secure a reward from the railroad company to undergo a little physical suffering, such as a slight flesh wound in one leg from a pistol ball. The railroad company is probing the matter to the bottom.
