Nelson Leads in Daily Straw Vote

Regan Runs High in Stearns County, with Republican Leader Second in Race

Martin Nelson, republican candidate for governor, is leading in the poll conducted by 24 daily newspapers of the state, with a total vote of 52,400. Governor Olson is second with a count of 35,756, and John Regan is running third with 31,631 votes.

In Stearns County Mr. Regan has 683 votes, while Martin Nelson is trailing with 429 and Gov. Olson has 259.

The ballots have been sent to 335,000 automobile owners. This is not the same straw vote, as is being conducted by the United Minnesota Voters. The latter ballot is only for the purpose of learning whether Nelson or Regan is the stronger candidate. In the latter poll ballots were only sent to those who are members of the United Voters, or those who are now enrolling.
