GLENDIVE.—The town of Glendive, about which so much is being talked of, in the East, is located on high bottom lands, along the Yellowstone river, about one mile from the bad-lands, which are on the southeastern side, the river on the other side of the town. The land upon which the town is located, has an average height of about ten feet above high water mark, and is consequently high enough to be out of all danger from floods. There is a location for a good steamboat wharf within half a mile of town. The railroad is laid out to run in front of what is, at present, the only street in town, and the railroad company will build, this spring, commodious machine-shops and round houses, as Glendive is the end of the Missouri Division. At present the town is not very lively, but in a few weeks business is expected to bloom forth and boom at a tremendous rate, as soon as the railroad shall commence to run regularly, and the daily stage, connecting Miles City with the end of the track, bringing in their loads of eager and enthusiastic passengers for the Yellowstone. Town-lots are in active demand, and logs for foundations can be seen in all directions, piled upon lots. At present, there are no frame buildings in the town, but as soon as the boats and cars commence running, lumber, in great quantities, will be delivered there, thus enabling people to build of better and handier material than logs.—[Yellowstone Journal.
