Full Text

The Washington Telegraph appears to have its hands full in defending itself against the N. York Courier and Enquirer. It accuses the latter of abusing the Jackson men in Congress, and of a treasonable design to dismember the Jackson party. This charge of dismemberment is founded on the fact that the Courier has nominated General Jackson for re-election—the very thing, we should suppose, to keep the party together. The Telegraph is evidently about to make some leap, probably or Mr. Calhoun. It speaks of General Jackson now as the "Executive," in rather cold terms.—Hints that he has "authorized" the Courier to set him up in despite of his promise, and of the wishes of "the party," and is hypocritically alarmed at the apprehension that the President will show that there is some truth in the charges the opposition have made against him.
