Columbus, Jan. 7.—The Senate of Ohio organized this morning by electing the following officers: Clerk, W. T. Bascom, of Franklin county; 1st Assistant, E. Foreman, of Wayne; 2d Assistant, G. N. Shaw, of Brown; Sergeant-at-Arms, J. Fayon, of Lorain; 1st Assistant, J. W. Shirley, of Perry; 2d Assistant, S. Matthews, of Franklin. The Senate passed the usual joint resolution to count the votes for Governor, &c., on Wednesday. Recess till 3 o'clock.
A very large number of persons were in attendance at the Hall of the House of Representatives to witness the organization.
The House was called to order by Dr. Trevitt, Secretary of State. The members presented their credentials and were sworn in by Judge Bartley, of the Supreme Court. The following gentlemen were then elected officers of the House: Speaker, N. H. Van Vorhes, of Athens; Clerk, Jas. S. Robinson, of Hardin.
