Dickinson's Wheat Promises Bumper Yield.

Dickinson's wheat harvest promises 18 bushels per acre on 182,262 acres, or 3,280,716 bushels, according to the June report of the state board of agriculture. Corn condition is 85 per cent of perfect.

The report says:

"Kansas now is harvesting a wheat crop that promises a yield of 117,215,000 bushels, or 12.95 bushels to the acre, according to present estimates of correspondents. Should this production be realized, it will be the state's fifth largest—the crops of each of the last three years and of 1914 exceeding it—and 8,491,500 bushels more than the annual average of the past decade.

"This increased yield over the board's May forecast of 105,560,000 bushels, (13.05 bushels to the acre) is due to the fact that assessors' returns from sixty-seven counties, received in the last month, showed 556,339 acres, or 7.3 per cent, more sown to wheat than had been previously estimated. Should the same rate hold good in the thirty-eight counties from which the official returns are yet to come, the aggregate of wheat sown last fall would amount to 12,290,858, or the largest in the history of the state.

"Assessors returns, in addition to abandoned wheat land turned to corn, indicate that 5,012,563 acres have been planted to this crop, or an increase of 13.4 percent over last year, but 13.9 per cent under the 5-year average. Based on 100 as representing satisfactory development, its condition averages 82.8 per cent for the state, compared to 85.7 last year, 80.2 in 1920 and the 5-year average of 80.2."
