From Philadelphia, Nov. 13.
It was reported this morning, that the brig Pickering of 16 guns, capt. Hayward, had captured in the West Indies, a French ship of 22 guns, after a severe action. The ship, it was further said, had been manned and fitted for the express purpose of capturing the Pickering.
We believe this report is entitled to no credit, as no such account has been received at the office of the Secretary of the Navy. Captain Tingey, of the Ganges, however, informs, that the Pickering had captured a French letter of marque of 6 guns, with a cargo valued at 100,000 dollars.
